According to a forum thread, which Pajper started in the Polish community, Pajper is asking himself the question whether the name "Elten" should remain or not. Here is what he wrote:
"The name Elten is not very well associated. For the name belongs to a German company producing shoes ... It's not that much of a problem, but it could lead to some kind of confusion and the Web address might also be a trivial problem. The elten-net.eu Web site is not bad, ... but might be somewhat difficult and strange. At the same time, both at the time between establishing the program and today, sites such as: elten.com, elten.net, and elten.org were already occupied.
"Each of these arguments may be small, but when I add them together, I start thinking about the matter quite seriously.

"The biggest disadvantage is attachment to the name. Somehow this has become common in consciousness."

So it might be a good topic for discussion. So what's your opinion.

To make the community well known to this network (regardless of where they are from), I do feel that Elten does need a name change.

The trick though, is finding a common name that relates to any language.
A name for unity, friendship, inspiration.

I think Elten is a good name.
And that, is why you shouldn't do this.

I think a name change would be a good idea, in order to avoid the confusion talked about in the first post. I can't think of anything at the moment though. It should be something that is memorable and attractive, and won't cause any confusion with anything else.

I think that a name change will be possible, however I really don't know what I call it.

Also, should there ever come a name change, we all may have to replace the name "Elten" by eventually the new name in all the forum posts, wherever it is found: quite a job, if you ask me.

Yes, indeed.

I think Elten's name should be changed but I can't think of any to call it. Is it possible that it could be renamed to Klango? Or is that name still being used?

It's not used but the Klango Web site is still up. For what reason, I don't know; and as long as it is still up, Simplito won't allow someone else to use this name. Other than that, it would be nice if we could call this Klango again.

This is Elten, not Klango.
Do you want to call a telegram, whatsapp?
This is a different project.

Elten and klango did/do similar things, so there is nothing wrong with calling it that in my view. There are so many chat systems around that do similar things. I was wondering if the name chat hub could be a good idea?

ChatHub eh?

I like that!

Ok, so we can named messenger, whatsapp.
We have a lot of programms which are similar, but they are different from each other.
Now Elten has more options than Klango, even interface is a little different.
And what's more, people who created Klango, didn't create Elten.
Noone wants to call all browsers "google chrome" :D

Names can also be nostelgic, which was probably why klango was mentioned in the first place. In any case we'll see what new name will be decided. These are only suggestions after all.

For those wondering, the name Elten is of Old English origin, and the meaning of Elton is "Ella's town".
Place name from England and transferred use of the surname, from Ella tûn.
Singer Elton John adopted the name in honor of saxophonist Elton Dean.

Besides, it was already explained about the German shoe company being the origin of the name.

I don't think that a name change is a bad idea. If there are/were other organizations/companies out there using the name Elten, then a name change might be good to preserve the unique feel of the program. You would probably want something unique, but which would also grab people's attention. You would also probably want something that others hadn't come up with, something, shall we say, creative. I don't know what it could be, but probably something simple, that everyone would understand, yet different, unique. As previous posts said, using a name similar to another chat program, for example messenger, isn't quite what you'd want.
