Hey all,
So I have a few questions. These are in no particular order.
1, what exactly is so great about commontary? One of the big things I've always wanted to see in talkback is a roter of sorts, at least something better than the one we have right now, but when I tryed commontary we didn't even have that, and in many ways it just seemed like talkback but with a lot of bells and wistles, most of them paid.
2, does anyone know of a way to make espeak only speak in one language? I hate it when the acsent constantly changes based on the dialect of what you're reading, I'd much rather just have it in english US for the few times I want to use it.
3, is there any kind of moddern port of shine + available? A friend of mine used it back in 2016 and it looked very interesting, but I've herd it has since been discontinued.
Thanks.

For your second question, turn off auto language switching and auto dialect switching, and you should be ok.

Hi. So this may seem like a stupid question but, how exactly does one go about doing that? I looked around the espeak settings and in the tts settings, and either I'm being stupid or there's nothing like that there.

Well, sadly I don't know how it is on android since I don't have one, but the PC version allows you to turn it off.

Where the heck you can find Commentary? I looked in the play store and can't find it. Even though I'm familiar with android, I didn't come across a way to turn off auto language switching in android. The setting Nikolett mentioned is for NVDA on windows, but not for Talk back on android.

Oh, thought the options are the same on android, too. But seems not.

Well the way you change settings on android is completely different. It's not anything like nvda.

CSR is the best screenreader ever.

Do you really mean commentary screen reader? No thanks! Can't even navigate properly with the thing. Or is android 7 too new for it? And why do you think so? For me, it's definitely Talk Back.

I follow someone on Twitter who swears by that Commentary thing. I just don't know. I haven't been near an Android.

Well after having fiddled round with it a bit, I now get how I want it. I had to turn on "swipe left and right" first. Until then, I had to use up and down. It works now, but I still can't see why it would be better than talk back.

Commentary can't be used to turn the phone on or off, so yeah, what use is it, just sayin'.

O do you mean auto start? This worked for me though.

Oh, I wouldn't know. The person I follow on Twitter said Commentary can't be used to turn the device on or off.

I might have a look and see if it works in the shut down window when you press the power button. That was the other thing I was thinking of, if that person didn't mean auto start.

Hmmmm, for me everything concerning turning on and off works just fine. Maybe it's a problem with this particular phone of this person. Also, one thing that is kind of neat about it, on your home screen, when you finished one screen, it moves automatically to the next with your next swipe. But I don't really need that, that's why I installed a launcher with an app drawer. Apex was the first one that came to my mind. Although Commentary switches to its own weird chinese tts from time to time.

|Still, if there's no way to change navigation modes then it's a no thanks from me. I love being able to skip by heading and link and sometimes character if I need to get the spelling of something, and thus ffar I haven't found a way to do that in commentary. I like everything else it has to offer, but until I figure out how to do that I'll never be able to use it as my primary.

You can set it. you can navigate similar to talkback.
