I wonder if there's any help for this free piano thing. I wonder how one uses the demos for instance. I suppose you change the key map by editing the .cfg file but other than that, I can't figure out much, except for what I found out by experimenting. F3 and F4 transpose for instance. There are octave-changing keys too, F7 and F8.

It would be nice if sustain wasn't always on as well, just sayin'. Well, I found out the escape key stops a note from ringing. The demos don't seem to do anything. I set them to open with free piano and they don't play or whatever.

Update, the five lesson songs play. The others don't seem to do anything as far as I can detect.

Another update, some of the other demo files play. They appear to be song titles, just the first few or so don't play.

Wow, I really wish there was help on this thing, fun to mess around with!

It's the first four that don't play in the song folder. they have strange titles like Demo - ═»╗░.fpm.

Some of the songs are repeats, maybe slightly different versions.

I guess I'm done now, smiles.

I found out all I can. The demos say you can but there's no instructions, sad face. Some of the demos sound muddy because the sustain is always on.

I went to the site and looked at the user reviews of free piano. It says in one of them that there are instructions at the top, obviously not accessible, at least not that I can tell.

Supposedly you can export to MP4 but damned if I know how to do that.

Uh well, I don't really know, just found it but yeah, at least half of it is not accessible. And I always get mad cause of this damn sustain :D

It's fairly interesting, and I suppose if someone knows how they can use whatever VST instrument they have.

If you're using the freepiano.map keyboard map, you can press escape to stop a note. Or hook up an external MIDI keyboard, so I've read.

You have to edit the .cfg file and make your keymap changes there. There are only three included in free piano. I understand you can make your own keymaps but I don't know how to do that. It's part of the inaccessibility of the program. The three keymaps are obviously in the keymap directory in the free piano folder.

hi. i just have made my own keymap. you only need to edit the .map files or i dont know exactly the file type. you only must edit the existing key maps and there you see some examples.

I didn't try opening them in a text editor. I probably wouldn't know what I'm looking at but yeah, I do know it can be done.

Well, it looks like, in my case, the recording, saved as screen shots, went to my Microsoft One Drive folder. I don't know of any way to change where it saves.

While I was at it, I looked at the freepiano.map keymap in Notepad, found out where the record, play and stop keys are. Play equals print screen, record equals scroll lock and stop, which saves the recording, equals the pause key.
