but for me it seems sometimes a bit offensive how do you say to people that your name is spelled different. creating a single message for that makes no sence, too.

Guys! I have a guess why you cannot change your username.
In the database of users, the only identifier of a user is username. All mensions of a user, including the forum posts, chats and so on, are tied not by his database primary key or an id, but by username. It means, that if the main database table of users changes a username, he will unlink all forum posts, all messages, all friends, because it would be considered a new user. If you would need to change your username, you would need to change it in all forum posts, all friend lists, all messages lists... If the server could get all user's data using a unique id, like telegram, than you can freely change your username. Hope my explanation is clear!

So, in telegram, databases are done so a user has a unique id, so when you want to get his forum posts, the server searches for it by the ID. But in case of elten, i think all identificator you have is a username, so if your username changes, all forum posts searched for your username are not valid because they are tied to your old username, so it would take a big processing power to change your username for all parts of database..

I don't understand why anyone would want to change their user name in the first place, you either have the nickname you always use, or you think of something random that just sticks with you and that's fine. Can you change your first and surname, well you can, but it's a hassle. So if it would ever be a possibility which it thankfully won't, it should be a complex and annoying process, so people don't have others guessing who the heck they are, especially if done multiple times across a short timespan.

I think what some people are getting at is that one day Pajper could try and find a way of changing the database so that users have a unique ID which would free up the username thing.

I don't get why you would like to be named like that but if you want, meh, then don't complain about people spelling it wrong. + I think its funny how all the people who have a normal username never requested such a feature.
