Hi guys, so recently I got X on my iPhone again, now I saw many people, including nvda, blindhelp, or other blind friends are still posting. But I never really liked the App that much, is just the web interface good or is there any new client I haven't heard about? Because for example in tweesecake, autoricing the app and loging in still works, it just doesn't shows any post because twitter changed/removed their api...

I prefer using Firefox on my PC to surf and post on Twitter/X. The only thing I find hard is sending direct messages.

you cant use other clients anymore because the API got disabled I think

Yea, thats my last knowledge too, but who knows whats happening with that mess right now. Also as I said, I really wondered because I can't imagine the web page is that good.

The whole thing's a mess, basically anyone who wants to use the API has to fork out a lot of money which is just stupid, its bad enough they are making new features and locking them behind a premium plan.
This is 2024, not 2023. Please just leave all drama behind!

Time to move to Mastodon. A lot of blind people and related organisations are already there, and I know of at least 2 clients made for us. Other mainstream clients such as Tusky for Android and Mona for iOS have excellent accessibility support. There are even a few Mastodon instances driven by the blind community.

Thats the big advantage of Mastodon and other so-called fediverse services. It doesn't matter where someone is registered. You can choose your favorite server and follow other people on other servers from there. I'm available at https://troet.cafe/@radiorobbe

I know of a good Mastodon server, that is https://samstodon.net
It's nice and peaceful, and you can literally just create an account and voila you're on Mastodon!
This is 2024, not 2023. Please just leave all drama behind!

TWBlue, but it currently is somewhat broken. TweeseCake actually sounds nice, but I don't agree with their concept of having an account with them before you can use the desired service.

Meh, I really like the concept of TweeseCake, and it has some cool options, but mastodon there is not really how I like to have an interface. I like it to listen to web radio or rss feeds with TweeseCake, and in general its not bad, but I am open to try out something else for mastodon because yea, then I can still decide what I would like to use.

Tweesecake won't be free forever, or that's what was said. If the free period expires, they'll want people to start paying, and that's what the account is used for.

^What i also don't like about tweesecake is that it is not open source and if you ask the dev why it is not, you get ignored. If i give an app data to mastodon, telegram and perhapse more and an accountbase i wanna be able to read the sourcecode and see how this data is handled, which btw was possible with quinter, a twitter client made by the same dev as tweesecake before tweesecake came to live. But now that the api is gone, quinter is of course also dead.

could you maybe provide a link to tw blue? I actually searched on the net but didn't found a download, maybe I'm just to lost XD.
Also what means broken? Is this actually still developed?

Some functions such as reply, boost or favorite in the main window are currently not working, the buttons simply do nothing. Also the menu items seem to be broken.
