So. After about 48 hours and a lot of frustration, I've beaten the Last Of Us Part II remastered on PlayStation 5. And I gotta say... I loved it.
The first game is a classic. I remember it being the game I picked up with my PS5 when I bought it back in August. I spent the whole weekend playing that one too, and, though I already knew most of it since I'd seen the show beforehand, I still enjoyed it, and had a ton of fun.
Part 2 was a whole different ballgame, as I had never seen anything about it, except for... the big spoiler which I will not mention here.
I'm going to keep this short, because I really don't have the energy or brain capacity to put together a full review, so I'll keep it simple: This game is good. Really good. A lot of people in the community hate on it, call it trash because of the big spoiler and stuff like that, but this game was hard to get through. Not in terms of gameplay, though I did get pretty stumped in parts of it. But the emotional weight behind this game, the stuff that happens, the things the characters are forced to do to each other is tough to get through. I feel a bit shell-shocked, actually, after finishing it. The game is beautiful. The sound design, the combat, all of it is great. And it's going to stick with me for a long time.
If you have a PS5, or whenever they release this game for PC, check it out. It's fun, it's engaging, and it's emotionally exhausting.
Change is not always growth, but growth is often rooted in change. Because of the friends I have known, the honorable people I have met, I know I am no solitary hero of unique causes. I know now that when I die, I will live on.
