Hi everyone.
How many of you have razed or like parakeets?
I'm working on razing one myself.
I've had her for nearly 4 months, and I'm loving it.
She pretty much likes the same kind of music I do. I've learned how to feed and water her, and clean her cage.
She's pretty much my first bird I've had, so I'm still learning.
One very good thing is she's never bitten me. I think she knows I'm not a threat to her.
I think the only thing I'll have trouble with is hand taming her.

Lol, didn't know birds like music. Glad it's all going well though.

Thanks.
I noticed she likes classic hits the best, music from the 60's and 70's.
I like that music as well. She was jamming to a few songs yesterday.
If I leave the house, I turn on piano music to keep her relaxed until I get back.

I think they do in most cases.
She's starting to let me pet her every now and then.

Hi.
I got two more parakeets last month.
They are both mates. So far, all three of them are happy and doing well.
Precious is a bit nervice, but happy at the same time with them, but they all seem to get along.
I can't tell the new ones apart based os sound, but they are in a seperate cage from Precious.
I named them Skittles and Harmony.

I reached into a cage with one, it bit me so heard 2 months ago, and I still have a spot on my finger from where it is.
Anything can work. Just decide how much, or what you would like to subject for said thing to work.

Why not teach them how to talk to you instead?

Oh yes, that's fun! Heard one on YouTube. WE too have ones, but they can't talk.

I have been trying, but they haven't learned how to talk yet.
I rased one
from an egg last year.
He's grown up now and doing good.
He let me hold him a few times when he was a baby.
We name him Melody, but we didn't know he was a boy untill earlier this year.

Wow, I'm so glad to read this thread. I have a strong interest in parakeets, and I have every intention of getting one once I get my own place. Their intelligence amazes me, and I think I would enjoy their company. I have heard that teaching a male to talk can be easier, but not sure if that is true or not.

I've heard that as well, but both genders can talk.
I can almost pick up some ords out of their singing.
One thing that's cool, is Precious only likes to hug my fingers and stuff at night, but the other two do it during the day.
I'm trying to encourage her to do it a bit in the day as well.
