Hello everyone!
As a moderator, unfortunately I can not express how shocked I am now, but the minimum I can do is to post this here.
A few minutes ago, I got the following information from a russian fellow, name redacted. If he wants to publicly claim the message is from him, he's more than welcome, but I'm not giving out details. When he tries to use the built-in youtube feature of Elten from Russia, he is getting the following message:

The reason I've posted this here is of course, not the wish for a debate or a community war. I simply want to know the answer for the following questions:
1. Is this really true?

Yes, to be honest I'd also like to hear if he agrees with this. Because if it's not made by him, it simply can be due to the fact that the program they use for reaching youtube had an update and a third-party developer put in this racist limit.

seriously, if that's real this is something not acceptable and should be imediately checked by piper. I don't think, though that this is from elten, more likely the youtube software that elten uses causes this.

Hi! I was not aware about that restriction in Youtube-Explode library.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid there's not much I can do about it. The tone of this message is absolutely unacceptable to me. Both myself and the Prowadnica Foundation condemn Russia's unlawful invasion of Ukraine, but we would never use vulgar language or discrimination against Russians, except for European sanctions, of course. But this is not the case.
However, such restrictions were introduced by the creators of the library that Elten uses, not me, and they are not included in Elten's code.
I'm very sorry about the situation.

At least it is not Pajper's idea. It is cool.
But anyways it is very strange to see such discrimination, nazism and such swear words in Elten.
I know more Youtube libraries, like YTDLP, which have no such terrible nazistic limitations.
I hope that administrators and developers will do something with this situation.
Because just immagine that i create in the english forum a thread like "<insert_country_name_here> should be destroyed and citizens of <country_name> shall day immediately!".
I guess that i will be banned in a minute after such a thing.
So why not do something with Youtube program which is actively used by all community including russians and belarus.

It's sad. I also don't agree war on Ukraine, but Russian people who aren't involwed in it isn't guilty for that.
Restrictions? OK. A lot of apps, services etc maded restrictions for Russia due this war, but publicly insulting Russians and sending information like this which was published here is really bad and unacceptable.
Excluding fact that noone of users was informed about this change. Pajper didn't know about it as he said, and i thing that noone who using this library or low percentage of people know about this practice.
Currently over 1.7k proiects using this library.
How much of them know and accept this policy?
Do the same as Nuno. Report it to the GitHub. I will ask someone wiser of me about law who can really understand completely GNU license, and maybe can help write a statement for my report to the GitHub detailing specific points in it which was break. Unfortunately i'm not as good in English to read and write reports of violations with all points included.
If someone who are better than me in English can refer to the GitHub policy, please do it and send points which have been broken here.

somehow it can stream videos from youtube, not download it but stream.
they use ytdlp, youtubesearchpython and MPV which can play youtube streams.
MPV is available for windows too and this is much greater player than is used in elten now. at least it have no problems with volume control and already supports lots of formats, not only this shitty ogg and default wav.

Sorry for my toxicity, but after that incident in the morning i am still a bit angry.

I completely disagree with this policy. Discrimination, hatred, they are never good. With that in mind, please take a different perspective.

Since the beginning of the war, Prowadnica has been supporting blind refugees from Ukraine, we have volunteers from Ukraine. Russian soldiers mercilessly bomb schools, churches, dormitories, houses. They place the civilians over the dug pits and shoot them, one by one.
This is a horror that none of us will ever understand. Many times I have seen mothers with children explaining to them that their father has gone to a better world. I saw a grandmother with her granddaughter, a granddaughter terrified because her parents died in the bombing, so the elderly woman, herself terrified, had to flee the country and get along with strangers.
Perhaps the Russians murdered the sister, mother, daughter of the creator of this library.

Do I support the actions of the creator of YoutubeExplode? Absolutely not. First of all, the war is not the civilians' fault. Such actions only cause reluctance, are harmful, and will not change anything for the better.
I don't agree, but I can understand.

@pajper I dont know from what source you get this information about that terror from russian soldiers.
One of my family members is fighting in this war right now, he has about 20 people under his control.
And he always tells me that of course they have to kill ukrainian soldiers and bomb military objects. but they never terror against civilians.
So what you tell now here looks more like propaganda from massmedia, aimed to scary citizens and make them hate russia.
