I don't know if this is from any sort of update but I noticed it at the morning today. The taskbar looks different once again. For example wenn I'm on my desktop and press tab, it says nothing, so there's an empty feeld. It will only skip to the start toggle button afterwards. Also some button like notification shevron or search appear to have gotten a rename, for example.
Search, Weltweiter Recyclingtag toggle button not pressed
Also sometimes when returning there it just says taskbar and tabbing/shift tabbing won't do anything.
People are complicated. This keeps getting prooven over and over and goes to a point where it makes no sense anymore.

Yep, same here. The cumulative update before last did it on my machine, so you got that update now. The only way to navigate that weird taskbar is with object navigation I've found. You can get rid of the search bar in personalization under taskbar. You can now unhide all your system tray icons and get rid of the hidden icons menu.

idk how though. Man this is weird, if they don't fix this in the future then this is bullshit

Yeah apparently the new task bar layout is somewhat broken. However the windows key combinations still work as expected, Windows+M or Windows+D always should bring you back to desktop if you're trapped in the task bar.

When you're on the desktop and you press tab, NVDA should say "window dragging". If you press tab twice from there, you get the start button and anything pretty much as normal. I like the old interface better as well though.

yeah but I strongly dislike this empty spot and want it gone if possible. Yeah little things can disturb me hahah.

Well I said I like the old interface better as well. But I'm also wondering if maybe we can work on NVDA to fix it. BTW, I'm currently doing an IT training, and I'm learning Python there too. I hope I'll soon be at a point where I can understand how the code of NVDA works!

oo that's nice. Wait, so you mean you want to change up nvda like that it skips the thing?

Well, if there's a way to do that, and if I have learned enough, yes.

That would most likely involve modifying how the system focus behaves, which is not something you'd usually do. NVDA is more about reading what's there, not forcefully changing how things work. See Supernova and Jaws for examples of when this goes horribly, horribly wrong.

The tab order looks funny, but doesn't always work. For instance, when you press the Windows key, then escape, then you get the taskbar referred to in this thread. There, tab and shift tab do nothing, and the only way I know to navigate to somewhere from that taskbar is by using object navigation. I press numb pad insert plus numb pad 2 to go in one level, then holding down numb pad insert I press numb pad 6 to go to the right. Incidentally, I get this taskbar when I first boot the computer and Windows comes up, so the only way to show the desktop is to navigate over to the show desktop button and invoke it by numb pad insert plus numb pad equals or enter.

I don't even have a numpad actually

You probably can ppress the function key and use other keys for that, but yeah, still clunky to attempt.

windows 11 is just bullshit. I decided to stay with win10 as long as possible.

well win11's performance is sadly better.

I found the reverse actually. Windows 10 in a VM is nicer than Win11 in a VM. Maybe it's due to the emulated TPM or something, but 10 works better.

I'm here to report that a recent update, don't know which one, broke a lot of things with winowss 11 on my computer, forcing me to go back to windows 10. I can no longer access the action or notification centers with the windows shortcuts. My old notepad registry fix is now broken and I can no longer use a text exitor first without using word pd an hitting ctrl O. They open with thing is now updated, just thought I would mention that. This may just be me though.
Anything can work. Just decide how much, or what you would like to subject for said thing to work.

Hmm, all my Windows shortcuts work and so does Notepad.
