so, i might be getting some ssi payments starting in january. how much can you make, what are the rules, and what should i be aware of.

SSI is very limited from my experience. If there's no other income it might work for you. I was getting on Social Security Disability Insurance then as well and when that started SSI fizzled out, with many notices of "Re're gonna cut benefits". I finally got tired of filing waivers and it was cut off.
