How do people get to know people.
I'm looking at just different profiles. A lot of them are like knows 100 people and 100 people knows them lol.
It seems to me a lot of them do not know english either.
I'm just like is this because I'm a baby? lol.

Knowing folks is who you've added to your contacts. Being known is folks who have added you to theirs.

I understand that, that was obveous but I meant more where do people talk to people. Is it mostly private in messages ? or outside of this joint or what?

Depends.
You can meet people outside of elten, find out they have an account and add them, you can meet them here, etc.
Mostly people interact in messages I guess, but I have a few people I saw on the forum, found them nice and added them, and then forgot I had them there, which means if we have a conversation it's very short there because I'm terrible at starting them.

I meet people in conferences, I also talk to people on the forums, and also call them and added them to contacts list. You can also send them a pm.

Sometimes I can be a bit crap at starting conversations or keeping them going sometimes. One way I've definitely got a few messages and contacts is joining other groups that interest me, and sometimes you get lucky and you get a PM.

I’m also not very good at starting conversations or keeping them going. Sometimes I run out of stuff to say. I just take the conversation and see where it goes. I’ve noticed groups tend to die quickly. At least those I’ve seen.

That's ok though. Sometimes a good listener is all that is needed. Other times the convo starts and then that thing that you need to say just must come out! So out it comes!

Nobody is perfect at it. One thing I do not do well with in conversating is thinking on my feet.
I need time to process things and then weeks or sometimes months later I'm like oh! maybe that thing wasn't ok somehow!
And then I feel strange bringing it up to the person because it's something I should have thought of then! not weeks or months later.
