Wątek: Help with batch renaming files in Windows

Can someone help me? I'm trying to batch rename some files in Windows so that each filename has a number at the end that goes up by 1. But instead of getting beat 1, beat 2, beat 3 etc. I get beat (1), beat (2), beat (3) etc. I've tried using PowerShell and stuff to remove the parentheses, but they never seem to have the expected outcome; those darn brackets are still where Windows left them.
How do you reboot your computing machine? You put your feet through the computer screen!
