Wątek: Distinguishing between USB 2 and USB 3

First off, I apologize if this query has been posted in here before.
I've been wondering for a while now if there's a way for people without any eyesight to tell the difference between USB and USB 3. Does a USB 3 port feel in any way different to a USB 2 port? Do the cables feel different in any way? Are there any accessible software programs that'll tell us if devices are plugged into USB 2 or USB 3 ports?

The ports, therefore the plugs, look the same. I know of no software that would tell what kind of USB something is plugged into. I hope someone knows more than we do.

If you are on Windows 10, here is something helpful for you. You can probably do it in win11, but probably differently. Go to settings, then devices, then bluetooth and other devices. Look for one of your devices in one of the lists and it will say if it is connected to USB3.0. If the device is compattible and is plugged into a 2.0 port, it will say so.
Anything can work. Just decide how much, or what you would like to subject for said thing to work.

Plug it into another port on your computer until it says it's plugged into USB 3.0.
Anything can work. Just decide how much, or what you would like to subject for said thing to work.

It says this device can perform faster no matter what port I plug it into, it evn says it on my bootcamped 2017 Macbook Air, which apparently has USB 3 ports. I'm using the original cable that came with the USB hard drive.
