Hey all!
I find that equalizers that make our life more difficult started to apear in the new laptops.
For example:
I purchased hp laptop and well, the sound is awful.
It is louder and quiter each and every time when eSpeak starts talking.
I could disable some enhancements but not all of them unfortunately.
That{s interesting if you also found so strange issues on laptops like equalizers that make the sound louder and quiter and how you prevented it.
I just live with it and tht's it I believe there is no way to fix it.

I have an HP as well. It's seven years old, or I will have had it seven years in May. When I first got it the equalizer was set to flat sound, and the stereo field was such that I couldn't play stereo games. I finally figured out how to disable the default sound. It's the first check box in the audio control panel. With that disabled, I then had nine sliders which I made into kind of a v pattern. It sounds like you have audio ducking turned on and I don't use audio ducking. I also disabled the system effects for the microphone and found out it's a stereo array. I'd had the computer for six years then, so I had a mono mike for all that time.

Change your driver to high definition and everything will be better.

This very issue I have as well, and it is irritating. Could you please explain what to do in more detail? I mean what check box is it that has to be unchecked?

So,
what I did was removing the driver that was installed by the HP and let the system to install their driver.
Before that I also installed the realtek driver from the realtek's website and it didn't work.
I removed and then the windows installed the driver that didn't have any enhancements checkbox in the control panel.

In the audio control panel, there's an xml element, or that's how NVDA reads it. You have to right arrow twice and it should say something like windows.shapes.triangle if I remember correctly. Tab in till you see the xml element check box and uncheck it. That should then give you the graphic equalizer in the tab order.

JAWS reads the audio control panel window better than NVDA, so if you have a version of JAWS, go for it with that screen reader.

Well let's see. I highly doubt I have ever encountered any XML thing though.

It should say something like system effects or something similar, usually a check box.

Or it could be in the audio device's properties as well, under the enhancements tab. There is a check box to disable all sound effects.

I'm having a problem with my new computer. When speech or sound stops for about a second, maybe a bit more, the next sound or speech item clips, as if a noise gate is present or something. This is quite annoying as I have to have the speech item in question be repeated to hear all the word, or first part of the word spoken. I've looked and looked and can't find how to disable this, whatever it is.

It looks like loudness equalisation is enabled. It can also be found in the audio properties.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find that anywhere, neither loudness equalization nor audio properties.

I've tried disabling audio enhancements without any difference. It did make a difference with the microphone but not with the headphones/speakers. There are separate controls for speakers and microphone.

To be clear, there is a difference in audio with audio enhancements turned on or off, but no difference in the clipping problem.

Well, a friend of mine just sent me a program that helps sound cards not go to sleep. For anyone who needs this as I do, for it solved my problem, the link is

I hope all the link copied.
