I think that it depends on the teachers and the classmates too somewhere. Although I don't want to hold anyone accountable (,because it goes beyond the scope of this post). Anyway, it is super if you was lucky and went to a good blind school. (Of course, preparing for the sighted people and world also matters. If someone teachs the students how can they interact with them. Etc. . ) I think it has less option to interact sighted people in a blind school, outside the adults such as teachers, emploiees.

I don’t think it’s about which schooling system is good or bad. I think some might work for people and others not. I went to a school, where the children had different visual abilities. Some were totally blind, and others had some sight, and there were stil others that could see to read larger print. Many of those who were blind, came out fine, and function alright. Mental problems could affect anyone in my view.

I had terrible experiences with a mainstream school.
Although I do not act very strange, I also have quite a lot of knowledge regarding what a lot of teens and people my age are into, still most of them were very introverted or found it uncool to hang out with a blind guy and even when I reached out and was natural in my behaviour, it didn't work.
I won't say I didn't meet any people, didn't make friends, etc, but it was quite ridiculous all together.
Maybe I wasn't in the best environment, well, that's what happens sometimes, it's not just me.
I also have very positive experiences with sighted folks, even my age.
Still, I think there are way too many variables and it's a bit o a mystery to me.

Just it is how it is. I think that not blind people are different, but if we would compare sighted and sighted, of course we will get soo much variety. So nothing to worry about. Of course our blindisms (those people who have them) could be unattractive for sighted people unless they know you well and know what to expect from you. But what about laugh from sounds, we just get more information from them. I think sighted people also can laugh at visual things, which are, let's say, strange to laugh at.
