Hey all. I'm wanting to use Stereo Mix n my PC, but I don't see it in the list of mic or line in options. I know there's a way to add it, but, I can't remember how to do it. If anyone could please help, I'd really appreciate it a lot. Thanks.

If it doesn't show up in audio sources that are disabled it might not be possible. Maybe your sound card doesn't have it? Depressing when that happens.

In that dialog, bring up the context menu and arrow down to see any devices which are disabled. I think that's how it's done. I have to do it every time I get a feature update in Windows 10.

Be sure and select the record tab and tab in. that's where show hidden and disconnected devices is in the context menu. I have both of those checked. Then you can arrow down and see anything you didn't see before.

Oh damn. Well, It looks as if my sound card doesn't support stereo mix. Both options are checked for me as well. But Stereo Mix is just not there. Damn. Lol. I wish I could fix this.

I was afraid that was the case. My wife's computer is the same, no stereo mix.

There needs to be a way to bring it back, no matter what sound card or driver you use. Lol.

Unfortunately, if the sound card doesn't have it, that can't be done. There is a way to feed the audio back through. I think that's in the listen tab. I'm not sure if you could record what you want that way but it might be worth a try.

What year is your computer from?

It depends on the soundcard driver, not the computer itself. High definition audio doesn't support stereo mix, although realtek does.

How can I switch to a better audio driver?

A driver wouldn't help you. The sound card is what does, or doesn't have, stereo mix.

Um, it indeed changed for me. Now I have high definition driver and I don't have stereo mix, but if I switch to any driver which is realtek, I suddenly have stereo mix again.

How can I switch audio drivers to see if it indeed does work for me?

It sounds like the driver isn't compatible and that's why you have different options with different drivers, but what do I know, to post 14.

Some external apps should enable you to record with the "loopback" method, which is an even better replacement without the hiss that you have with stereo mix.

There's this thing called vertual recorder. that you can use to record anything and everything in stario mix, the normal microphone, or even both.
All of you are amazing. Never forget it!
